In 2012, CMomA launched our Adoption Grant Gifting Program. We put the word out to partnering agencies and organizations to let them know, “WE HAVE MONEY TO GIVE” to worthy and wonderful childless women, men and couples adopting special needs and older orphaned children. So far, we have chosen four special “new” families who have met our eligibility requirements, and we’ve shared the stories of Antonia and Aleja. Now, we are thrilled to share more GREAT NEWS about CMomA’s third Grant Recipient… also now lovingly united with their 6-year-old son from Ethiopia!
Featured Adoption Story
Our Gifting Program has eligibility requirements that take into consideration the story of both the currently childless want-to-be parents and the orphaned children awaiting the time to go home with them. We are excited to share part of the Boatner family story, including what we heard from them directly and the images they shared.
One of the things that so impressed and touched our review committee was that they are a young couple, 28 years old, CHOOSING to adopt FIRST! Here’s what they had to say about that:
We appreciated Julie and Brandon’s clarity about choosing this path, and their confidence about their ability to offer a strong and healthy foundation for their awaited son. Brandon is an Associate Pastor in charge of youth and music at River Oaks Church in Missouri. Julie is a substitute teacher and is currently working on her master’s in education with a library media certification.
Julie and Brandon let us know of their plans to adopt a five-year-old boy from an impoverished village in the Gambella region of Ethiopia.
And because both the Boatners’ chosen professions were about being of service, it was clear to us that they could also really use the financial support to make this adoption happen.
Adoption Grant Awarded!
In the Fall of 2013, CMomA Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Marcy Cole, called the Boatners to let them know that CMomA had chosen them to be a recipient of a $5,000 gift toward their adoption of Torelingo. Listen in!
And here is Brandon’s gracious note, which followed:
Torelingo was officially declared a U.S. citizen on November 30th when he stepped off the plane.
His parents sent us the two pictures of him below, showing the change in this little boy’s image and energy in just six months:
CMomA IS so excited to welcome Torelingo “home” to America. Every child deserves a safe and loving home.
We feel so privileged to bear witness to helping one child at a time find their way into the loving arms of women and men that deserve them… and who will be such wonderful parents.
