The post below comes from Nina Ciatto, our very first CMomA Grant Program recipient. Back in August, we celebrated her arrival safely home with her newly adopted daughter. In addition to stories about navigating New Parenthood on her blog, Nina Adopts, she also shares observations about the realities of international adoption. We regularly share selected posts like this one from her blog.
OK, my child is the most perfect gift. The second most perfect adoption gift is a set of beautiful family photos that document all of the good things about adoption (and a sad I-want-to-ride-on-the-carousel face). It’s something I never would have even considered; using my credit card points to buy a better camera was a pre-travel photo-effort splurge. Red Thread Sessions celebrates families that are built (or added on to) through adoption by offering free professional photography to document the recent additions and their adorers.
I was paired with Colleen Putnam of Colleen Putman Photography. Not only is she a great photographer, she is smart, interesting, and super-kind to kids. We liked getting to know her, and feel truly honored that she took our photos. Here are a couple of my favorites:There are more here on Colleen’s blog and there’s a post about us here on Red Thread Sessions in case you haven’t gotten enough of Antonia’s cuteness.
This post was first published on Nina’s blog, Nina Adopts, Sunday, November 24, 2013, where you can see all of her favorites from this session.
