In 2012, CMomA launched our Adoption Grant Gifting Program. We put the word out to partnering agencies and organizations to let them know, “WE HAVE MONEY TO GIVE” to worthy and wonderful childless women, men and couples adopting special needs and/or older orphaned children. So far, we have chosen seven special “new” families who have met our eligibility requirements. In previous blog articles, we’ve shared the stories of Antonia and Aleja, Torelingo, Tirhas and Kiflom.
Now, we are thrilled to share more GREAT NEWS about CMomA’s fifth Grant Recipient… Charles and Holly Lott, from a suburb of Augusta, Georgia, also now lovingly united with their son 20-month-old son, Caleb from China. We were again moved and motivated to support the adoption of this sweet boy with special medical needs.
Our Gifting Program (more about CMomA Adoption Grants at the bottom of this post) has eligibility requirements that take into consideration the story of both the childless want-to-be parents and the orphaned children awaiting the time to go home with them. We are excited to share part of the Lott family story, including some of what we heard from them directly and the images they have shared.

We received the Lott’s application for a CMomA financial gift, referred by Chinese Children Adoption International. Charles is currently self-employed in Real Estate and Holly is a Clinical Social Worker. Married for 13 years, this couple is in their mid-late thirties and have not had biological children. They made the decision to adopt in 2012, communicating their willingness to embrace a child with a cleft lip/palate, due to the high percentage of that special need in China. This, and the fact that Holly’s career is dedicated to the welfare of families and children, along with Charles, who shows up regularly for those in his community (visiting special need adults each Sunday and escorting them to Church), is what placed the Lotts next in line for a grant.
Holly stated in their application:

We are home with Caleb! Our trip to China went well. We were officially united with Caleb June 9th during our trip overseas to get him, and returned to Augusta, GA on June 21st. It was the greatest feeling walking through our front door with him in our arms. The process of international adoption can be long, but well worth each step. We are loving life with all the new adventures of a very busy little boy! Caleb loves to eat and enjoys watching people. He also enjoys listening to music. Our home is full of fun energy having a toddler! He will have the corrective surgery for his cleft lip in September, and will be on a liquid diet for a week. This will be a challenge since he loves food!I look back on our adoption journey to our son and often wonder, “What is it that I wish I would have known?” I wish I would have embraced that families are made in many different ways, and ours was through adoption. During the first year of our adoption paperwork, I was grieving over the loss of not having a biological child and had such mixed feelings. What was helpful to me was reaching out to other adoptive parents who did not have biological children, hearing their journey, and finding where I fit in that process. International adoption was an answer to our prayers!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, CMomA, for choosing us to receive your generous grant. We deeply appreciate you playing a meaningful part in our adoption journey, helping to bring our son home!
Enjoying life,
Charles, Holly and Caleb

The Lott Family shared a special video message with CMomA!

Caleb has been with us for 5 months. My, this time has gone quick. Each day is filled with joy and laughter! After his cleft lip surgery it was the most precious thing to hear him say, “Mama,” now that he can form words that he could not before the surgery.
Life is Good and We are Blessed
THANK YOU CMomA!
