My dog hides under the bed when there is a lot of noise. I used to live in a quiet rural area but moved back to NY with her and she had to adjust to a noisy urban setting–twice they ripped up the street since I’ve been back and there are always sirens, car alarms, and renovations going on. I use a noise machine to drown out the sound.
Since my dog experiences travel sickness when she is in the car, I just recently ordered an herbal collar that is supposed to help with motion sickness. The same company also sells an attractive cloth collar called a calming collar that is filled with herbs that are supposed to calm your dog. Google Calming Collars. They are pricy but very attractive and made entirely to order and by hand.
I’ve used Rescue Remedy for pets, a homeopathic remedy to calm my cat down when she had to go to the vet. You might want to research it–the Bach Rescue Remedy just for pets. They also have a formula for humans.
